How much a Maine Coon costs per month

The price of a kitten is the entry ticket, not the total. A Maine Coon lives 12–15 years and eats like a cat of 8–12 kilograms, not like an ordinary cat. Here is an honest count: what goes out every month, what is bought once, and where thrift turns expensive.

The figures are a guide for 2026 and for Russia as a whole. In Moscow and St Petersburg vets and food delivery cost more; in smaller cities, noticeably less.

One-off purchases at the start

All of this is bought once, but it is bought straight away — before the kitten arrives:

Where you must not save

The monthly costs come to roughly 55,000 – 125,000 ₽ a year, plus 10,000 – 30,000 ₽ of one-off purchases in the first year. That is comparable to the price of the kitten itself, and it is worth understanding before the purchase rather than after.
